JON PAULING BIO
On one hand it’s very familiar; just a man with a simple guitar and a microphone singing inspirational songs. On the other hand its like nothing you’ve ever seen before; cross genre, soulful, rock and roll. From soft soul searching ballads to foot stomping songs of praise. Old school live music performed by talented musicians, combined with audio and visual programming provide a wonderful experience of music and imagery that will inspire all ages.
Jon Pauling was born in a small town in Missouri in 1964. He spent much of his childhood in Missouri and Illinois. He started writing music when he was 11 years old and learning to play the piano and guitar when he moved to Northern California in 1977. Jon composed a classical piano piece that won him the Composers Today Recital Competition when he was 14 and he played the composition in the Grand Ballroom at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. He spent much of his time writing songs and perfecting his talents on the piano and guitar. Jon started singing with his first band in the 7th grade and continued performing live with various bands and traveling all across the western states.
During this time Jon’s musical influences were the likes of the Beatles, Peter Gabriel, The Police, Miles Davis, and Bob Marley.
In 1992 he recorded “Walk Thru the Fire” with his own band and toured to promote it. He found some success on radio with the track “I Want U”. He continued to perform and record his original music throughout the 90’s still perfecting his craft as a singer and songwriter. In 1994 Jon met Brent Bourgeois and co-wrote the “Perfect Harmony” track from his 1995 Reunion Records release “Come Join the Living World”.
At the end of 2003 Jon met guitarist, producer George Black and started recording his new album called “Carry Me Home” The sessions have turned out to be quite a success. Over the next 2 years they wrote and recorded the songs for the album. During this time Jon has grown spiritually and has gained a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Fueled with the fire to bring Christ’s message of love, faith and hope to the world Jon is truly on a mission of mercy. As he puts it “I want to change this world and turn the tide on hatred.” “Love for one another and love for our Father is the only way to true peace and happiness.”
Jon’s most recent influences include Dr. Ralph Stanley, Keith Green, Johnny Cash, John Lee Hooker, The Winans, Bob Dylan, U2, Byzantine Chant, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Baloche, Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Switchfoot, Sting, David Crowder, Mumford and Sons, Coldplay, and Ray LaMontage.
Jon has opened and performed with national acts such as Pablo Cruise, Tower of Power, Eddie Money, America and Craig Chaquico from Starship.
What sets Jon apart from other bands is classic songwriting, moving memorable lyrics and melodies, set in a modern environment.
Jon say’s “I use old and new together to compose new music in way that is new and exciting yet familiar and timeless and my hope is that the One true living God we come and mingle amongst His people.”
Currently Jon is writing material for his 3rd cd and he is executive producing a faith based film called Hardland as well as producing other film, television and digital media content globally.
